Compensation and bonus clause review

A Cloudcomputeplus field method for employment consultations in Germany—built for offers that look generous until you read the footnotes.

The pass order

Three reads, one brief

First read: isolate every sentence that creates, conditions, or withdraws variable pay. Second read: label each as guaranteed, formula-based, or discretionary. Third read: list what is still undefined—metrics, approval body, payment date, leaver treatment.

Only after those passes do we draft questions for the employer. That sequence is the spine of our flagship studio and of private consultations.

Watchpoints

Patterns we mark in German offers

  • “Voluntary” or “revocable” bonuses that employers may adjust annually without a fresh negotiation.
  • Targets described only as “company goals” with no numeric corridor.
  • Pro-rata silence for mid-year joiners or parental leave periods.
  • Commission plans attached by reference to a handbook you have not yet received.
  • Good/bad leaver language that treats resignation before payment date as forfeiture.

What we do not do

Education and preparation—not representation

Cloudcomputeplus does not provide legal advice, litigate disputes, or certify that a clause is enforceable. When a clause raises statutory questions under German employment law, we help you prepare a clean brief for a qualified attorney.
